Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor with specialized expertise in fire door installation, maintenance, and fire stopping to join our team in the field of Passive Fire Safety. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing costs associated with these specific aspects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and contributing to the overall success of passive fire protection projects. This role involves working from our Glasgow office and requires travel across the UK as needed.
Responsibilities:
1. Cost Estimation and Budgeting for Fire Door Installation and Fire Stopping Projects:
– Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates specifically for fire door installation, maintenance, and fire stopping projects.
– Collaborate with project managers to develop and manage budgets tailored to these specialized aspects of passive fire safety.
2. Contract Management for Fire Door Projects:
– Analyze and evaluate contract terms and conditions related to fire door installation, maintenance, and fire stopping.
– Negotiate and procure materials and services specific to fire doors and fire stopping.
3. Quantity Takeoffs and Measurement for Fire Door and Fire Stopping Components:
– Conduct thorough quantity takeoffs for fire door components and fire stopping materials.
– Provide precise measurements and calculations for accurate cost assessments in these specialized areas.
4. Risk Assessment for Fire Door Projects:
– Identify potential risks and variations specific to fire door installation and fire stopping projects.
– Develop strategies to mitigate risks and maintain cost control in these specialized aspects of passive fire safety.
5. Cost Monitoring and Reporting for Fire Door and Fire Stopping Projects:
– Regularly monitor project expenditures related to fire door installation, maintenance, and fire stopping against budgeted costs.
– Generate comprehensive financial reports and forecasts specifically for these areas.
6. Supplier and Subcontractor Management for Fire Door Projects:
– Evaluate and select suppliers and subcontractors based on their expertise in fire doors and fire stopping.
– Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers for specialized passive fire safety procurement.
7. Location and Travel:
– Work from our Glasgow office.
– Travel across the UK as required for project needs.
Qualifications and Skills:
– Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
– Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a focus on fire door installation, maintenance, and fire stopping.
– In-depth knowledge of fire door systems, fire stopping materials, and their associated costs.
– Strong analytical and numerical skills specific to fire door and fire stopping projects.
– Excellent negotiation and communication abilities with expertise in passive fire safety.
